Reps Pass Bill To Establish Fed Poly In Fagge

The House of Representatives has passed for third reading a bill seeking to establish the Federal Polytechnic, Fagge, Kano State.
The bill was introduced on the floor of the House last year and was sponsored by Aminu Suleiman (APC, Kano), who represents Fagge Federal Constituency.

The bill passed second reading in May last year and was referred to the House Committee on Tertiary Education and TetFund, chaired by the Kano lawmaker.

The committee held a public hearing on the bill where all the stakeholders endorsed the establishment of the Federal Polytechnic, Fagge.

The bill states that the polytechnic would provide opportunities for technical education in furtherance of government’s economic objective of ensuring efficient, dynamic and self-reliant economy.
Suleiman said when established, the institution would provide quality, affordable and easy access to tertiary education to the people of Fagge Local Government, as well as neighbouring local governments and states.

The lawmaker thanked his colleagues for showing concern and passing the bill along with many others for third reading.

He said he believed that President Muhammadu Buhari would assent to the bill once it gets to his table due to the many advantages of the institution when established.
With the third reading of the bill, the House would forward it to the Senate for concurrence before it would be transmitted to President Buhari for his assent.
