Makinde’s Government To Include Persons With Disability In List Of LG Bosses To Be Appointed

Engineer Seyi Makinde’s government has approved the inclusion of persons with disability into the caretaker committee in all the 33 local government areas of the state.
This position was made known on Tuesday by the Oyo state governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde who was ably represented by his deputy, Engr. Rauf Olaniyan at the 2019 International Day of persons with disability with the theme: Promoting the participation of persons with disability and their leadership taking action on the 2023 development agenda.

The deputy governor, Engr. Rauf Olaniyan said the era of discrimination against disabled persons in the state has become a thing of the past.

He, however, reiterated the present administration’s commitment to total eradication of street begging in Oyo State.

In his welcome speech, the Executive Assistant to the governor on Disability, Barr. Ayodele Adekanmbi posited that the celebration is in line with resolution of the United Nations General Assembly which stipulates that every 3rd December be observed as the international day of persons with disability.

He added that the celebration is aimed at creating awareness on the need and aspirations of persons with disability while giving them a sense of belonging.

“It is a forum to showcase the achievements of persons with disability with view to encouraging others to strive for greater heights despite their disabilities,’ he maintained.
