We’ll Prepare Well For World Cup — Falcons Coach

Ahead of the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup finals in France, Super Falcons head coach, Thomas Dennerby, says his side will prepare well to make the nation proud at the global showpiece.

The African champions are drawn in Group A gainst Host France, Norway and Korea Republic for 24-team competition.

Speaking to newsmen, yesterday, Dennerby said there were good lessons learnt from his team’s campaign at the just Cyprus Cup and China’s invitational tournament.

“We learnt a lot of lessons in China and Cyprus that will positively help us do better in France, it was a great opportunity for us to know where we are, our biggest strength, where we can be and what we have to fix,” he said.

“We have big games ahead of at the World Cup but everyone who knows about Women football knows that is not going to be easy to play France, Norway and South Korea who are ranked higher than Nigeria”

“But we are working hard every day to make sure that we put up an impressive performance at the World Cup.”

The Swede, however, stated that new players will join the team for camping while only outstanding players will be selected to represent the country.

“We are going to invite some new players to the camp and hopefully we will select the best players to represent the country in France” he added.

The 8th FIFA Women’s World Cup finals will take place in nine French cities between June 7 and July 7.

Nigeria’s first match of the finals will be against Norway in Reims on June 8, before they face the Korea Republic in Grenoble on June 12.

Their last match of the group phase is against hosts France in Rennes on June 17.

The opening match of the tournament is between France and the Korea Republic and will hold at the Parc des Princes in Paris on 7th June 2019.
